Regina Ayala Chavez
Regina is currently finishing her Ph.D. in STEM education at NC state. She is originally from Mexico and moved to the U.S. in 2017. Her native language is Spanish, but she is fluent in English too. Regina has a bachelor’s degree in physics and a master’s degree in engineering. This background trained her in qualitative analysis, and her journey through the Ph.D. introduced her to qualitative research. She has published and presented in various journals and conferences across the science education community in her academic journey. Regina joined the Catalyst team in 2022 as a Research Associate. Because she identifies as Latin, she enjoys working on projects that include the Latin/Hispanic community in science.
